"Knowledge is the cornerstone of making wise, healthy choices about your self-care. Balance, whether it pertains to neurotransmitters in the brain, hormones in the body, or personal commitments in everyday living, is the key to a rewarding and enjoyable life. Today's patients want to have more interactive relationships with their health-care providers. They are ready to take on more responsibility for their own health. I hope to help you become your own best advocate in today's often-challenging medical climate."
Dr. Schroeder (pronounced "Shray-dur") brings a unique perspective to her professional work. She is a Western-trained physician and an American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) board-certified psychiatrist. She is also a North American Menopause Society (NAMS)-credentialed menopause practitioner (NCMP); this training assists her in her specialty, the interface between psychiatry and obstetrics/gynecology.
Dr. Schroeder has had an active private practice of psychiatry in Sacramento, California, since 1982. After 23 years of a successful psychotherapy and medication management practice, she made the transition into her current consultation practice in 2005 to pursue her specialty of Women's Health.
Dr. Schroeder is an associate clinical professor of psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, Davis, where she enjoys the teaching, supervision, and interaction with medical students and residents. She also speaks at local and national conferences and programs on a variety of topics.
